What is revenue intelligence?
Revenue intelligence is software that pulls activity, conversation and deal data together to show pipeline health and forecast risk. It reads email, calendar and CRM records, then shows which deals have gone quiet, which lack a senior contact and how this quarter compares with the last. Analysts often group it with revenue operations tools under the label revenue operations and intelligence.
Why it matters to a revenue leader
Forecasts often miss because the CRM shows what sellers typed, and sellers type late and hopefully. Revenue intelligence adds evidence from what happened, such as meetings held, replies received and people involved, which gives the leader a second view to test the forecast against. Forrester has described this category converging with sales engagement and conversation intelligence into broader revenue orchestration platforms, so buyers should expect overlap between tools. The software surfaces risk; the leader still has to inspect the deal and decide the number.
Example
Fictitious numbersA utility services company with 26 sellers carries $9.4 million in commit for the quarter. Activity data shows $2.1 million of it sits in deals with no buyer meeting in 30 days. The CRO reviews those deals with each manager before signing off the forecast to the sponsor.
"Which deals in this quarter's commit have no buyer activity behind them?"
