What is a RACI matrix?
A RACI matrix is a chart that names who is responsible, accountable, consulted and informed for each task or decision. It is also called a responsibility assignment matrix. Tasks run down one side and roles run across the top. Responsible means doing the work. Accountable means owning the outcome and signing off on it. Common guidance is to name one accountable person per task.
Why it matters to a revenue leader
Revenue work crosses teams. A service agreement renewal can involve both the seller and the service operations team, and each may assume the other owns the next step. A RACI makes those handoffs explicit, which helps after an add-on acquisition, when two teams with different habits start working the same accounts. A chart with several accountable names on one row recreates the confusion it was meant to remove.
Example
After an add-on acquisition, a facility services platform maps its national account renewals in a RACI. The account executive is responsible for the renewal. The regional VP is accountable. Branch operations is consulted on pricing for its sites, and finance is informed once terms are agreed. Renewals that used to stall between teams now have one name attached to the outcome.
"For our renewal process, can every person involved name the one accountable owner?"
