What is a management presentation?
A management presentation is the meeting where a company's leaders present the business to shortlisted buyers and answer their questions during a sale. It usually follows first-round bids and comes before a buyer signs a letter of intent. Buyers use it to judge the management team as much as the numbers, including which leaders they would back after the deal.
Why it matters to a revenue leader
If you lead sales at a company being sold, this is where buyers decide whether to believe the revenue plan. They will ask how the forecast is built, why customers renew and what happens if a top seller leaves. A CRO who answers with evidence raises confidence in the plan. A CRO who answers with optimism invites a lower bid or tougher terms.
Example
Fictitious numbersIn the sale of a security integration company, four shortlisted buyers each spend a day with management. Three of them ask the CRO to show how last year's forecasts compared with actual results, quarter by quarter.
"If a buyer asked how accurate our last four quarterly forecasts were, what would I show them?"
